We can’t believe it’s already August! And you know what that means….Back to school! As a matter of fact, August is National Back-to-School Month

Each year parents spend hundreds of dollars on back to school essentials that’ll only be used for the school year, like clothing, electronics, or basic school supplies. It’s predicted that this year parents will spend on average $138.75 on JUST basic school supplies alone. Isn’t that crazy?!

Here are some fun and sustainable kids’ crafts! Read below for Shop Tomorrows’ favorite ways to recycle materials from around your house into your own back to school creations. 

 

Paper Bag Book Cover

We remember making these book covers when we were in grade school! They are super easy to make, plus it becomes a fun art project for your kiddo if they want to personalize it!

 

Cereal Box Folder

Here’s a great step-by-step video on how to transform an old cereal box into a folder that’s both cute and functional! Maybe a Lucky Charms box will give your little one that extra luck to ace their test!

 

Food Packaging Pencil Case 

Yep, you can even make your own pencil case out of boxes! Here’s a way to up-cycle cereal boxes, cracker boxes, pasta boxes, or any of your favorite boxed foods into a way to keep yourself organized.

Picture Frame Dry Erase Board

If you have some extra picture frames around the house that you don’t know what to do with, here’s a way to give them a second life!

 

Locker Pencil Holder

Recycle some old tin cans into a way to keep your locker organized and decorative.

 

Soda Bottle Pencil Case

Not sure what to do with all of your used soda bottles? Instead of sending them straight to recycling, make some into a cute pencil case!
